Children rarely announce an emergency in advance—or choose a particularly convenient moment for one.
Our one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course gives learners the essential knowledge, practical skills and confidence to respond when a baby or child becomes injured or suddenly unwell.
Delivered by experienced trainers from emergency-service backgrounds, the course is practical, engaging and focused on real situations. We keep complicated jargon to a minimum and hands-on learning to a maximum.

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in baby and child first aid, including:
It provides an excellent introduction to child and infant basic life support and can also form the first part of the full Paediatric First Aid qualification.

The course combines demonstrations, practical activities and realistic scenarios covering:
Understanding your responsibilities
Emergency life-saving skills
Injuries and medical emergencies
The aim is simple: learners should leave feeling able to take action—not standing around hoping a more responsible-looking adult appears.
Do you need the one-day or two-day course?
This six-hour qualification forms the first unit of the full two-day Paediatric First Aid qualification.
If your professional role or childcare setting requires the full Paediatric First Aid qualification under the Early Years Foundation Stage, you will need to complete a minimum of 12 hours of training.
This one-day course can provide valuable additional cover, but it does not replace the full qualification where the 12-hour course is required.

Assessment and certification
Learners are assessed throughout the course through practical demonstrations and checks of their knowledge and understanding.
Those who successfully demonstrate the required practical skills and knowledge will receive a Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, valid for three years.
Annual refresher training is recommended to help learners maintain their skills and confidence. To requalify after three years, learners will need to complete the course again.

Millie’s Mark recognises childcare settings that go above and beyond minimum paediatric first-aid requirements.

Course prices
Group rates apply to bookings of seven or more learners. Prices include certification and a course manual, with no additional course fees.
A 20% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance payable at least two weeks before the course begins.
