Emergencies rarely check the diary first. Our Emergency First Aid at Work course provides learners with the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to respond safely when somebody becomes injured or suddenly unwell.

Delivered by experienced professionals from emergency-service backgrounds, the course is practical, engaging and focused on situations learners may genuinely face—not simply examples found in a textbook.

Course at a Glance

• Qualification: Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work
• Duration: One day, including at least six contact hours
• Minimum age: 14 years
• Maximum group size: 12 learners per course group
• Location: Your workplace or another suitable venue
• Certification: Valid for three years
• Assessment: Practical and written assessment

Learners under 16 can complete the qualification but cannot take responsibility as a workplace first aider until they reach 16. Employers remain responsible for deciding whether an individual is suitable for the role.

What Will Learners Cover?

Managing an Emergency

• Responsibilities of an emergency first aider
• Assessing an incident safely
• Reporting and recording incidents
• Basic hygiene and preventing cross-infection
• Relevant basic anatomy
• Using available first-aid equipment

Life-Saving Skills

• Managing an unresponsive casualty
• Resuscitation and CPR
• Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Recognising and treating choking
• Recognising and treating shock
• Controlling external bleeding

Injuries and Medical Emergencies

• Burns and scalds
• Minor injuries
• Epilepsy and seizures

Learners will take part in practical activities throughout the day because first aid is best learned by doing—not by confidently nodding at a slideshow.

Course Delivery

The course includes a minimum of six contact hours of classroom-based practical and theoretical training, normally delivered over one full day.

We can deliver the course at your workplace or another suitable venue, subject to a straightforward pre-course venue assessment.

Assessment and Certification

Assessment includes:

• Ongoing practical assessment by the instructor
• A written assessment
• Participation in the practical elements of the course

Learners who successfully complete the assessments receive a Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work, valid for three years.

Annual refresher training is recommended to help learners maintain their practical skills and confidence. Three years is a long time—especially when you are trying to remember which hand goes where during CPR.

Workplace Group Bookings

• Up to 12 learners: From £875
• Up to 24 learners: From £1,200, delivered as two compliant course groups with appropriate trainer provision
• Group booking rates: Available for seven or more learners

Individual Places

• £120 per person

Prices include training, assessment, certification and a course manual. There are no hidden extras lurking behind the defibrillator.

A 20% deposit secures your booking, with the remaining balance due at least two weeks before the course begins.
